The legislative session has officially wrapped! KUOW has a good summary of what happened overall and the WA State PTA has a summary of education bills that passed.
Most notably in the past week, the legislature approved a $5 billion increase in spending with the supplemental budget. Education spending increases included $90 million in funding for school nurses, social workers, psychologists, and guidance counselors, $346 million for enrollment stabilization for schools, $10 million for outdoor learning programs, and $236 million to adjust for inflation and increase school employee compensation.
Many legislators will now turn their attention to campaigns with all State House seats and half of State House seats up for election later this year.
Thank you to all who advocated for our Otters!
