Happy June – we have some exciting days ahead! Today is Field Day – one of my favorite days of the year. Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to make the day a success.
The Student Council has named next week “Spirit Week.” Each day will be a different dress up theme as follows:
- Monday 6/10– Pajama Day
- Tuesday 6/11 – Opposite/Backwards Clothing Day
- Wednesday 6/12– Dress as Your Favorite Decade Day
- Thursday 6/13– Dress as Your Favorite Movie/Book Character Day
- Friday 6/14– Dress as Your Future Career Day
Thursday I will head to Olympia on behalf of View Ridge to receive recognition by the State Board of Education for high achievement in ELA, Math, and School Quality Student Success measures. I am very proud to accept this award on behalf of our staff, students and families.
On May 24th, we had a visit from the Superintendent of Seattle Public Schools, Denise Juneau. We showcased the “Otter Way” with a student-led tour, a visit with the Student Council and several other classroom visits. Ms. Juneau was very impressed with View Ridge’s staff and students, as I am every day.
This week our “Positive Behavior” focus is “Greetings.” Please talk to your kids about how a greeting can fill someone’s bucket.
Last but not least, great job during May “Bike to School/Work month.” I personally logged 1,300 biking minutes in the month of May!
Until Next Week,
Mr. Roos
